Boost to Indigenous Basic Trainer as HAL Chief Flies it

Urges Youngsters to Look for Career in Aerospace & Defence

Bengaluru: T. Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL today flew the indigenous Basic Trainer Aircraft, HTT 40 at the on-going Aero India 2017. “It is a wonderful machine and my flying is intended to enthuse youngsters to look for flying as a career in defence  or in aerospace as engineers and take-up challenging assignments”, says Raju. HAL is making rapid progress on the indigenous design, development and manufacture of a Basic Trainer Aircraft ‘Hindustan Turbo-prop Trainer (HTT) - 40’. It would be used for basic flight training, aerobatics, instrument flying and close-formation flights whereas its secondary roles would include navigation and night flying.

HAL has allocated its own funds for the project. Two prototypes are being manufactured to speed up the flight trials and development process.  HAL aims to get the aircraft certified in 2018. The project includes many first time initiatives such as Digital Mock up (DMU), real time systems clash analyses, laser tracking of assembly jigs and six degree of freedom.

HAL CMD Flies Upgraded Hawk-i

Mr T Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL flew the upgraded Hawk named Hawk-i piloted by Wg Cdr Pratyush Awasti on February 17, 2017.

Bengaluru: T. Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL flew in upgraded Hawk-i during the Aero India 2017 here yesterday. Speaking to the newspersons after the flight, he described it as life time experience and said upgrade of Hawk aircraft has been taken up by HAL indigenously and he had a first-hand experience of the upgraded systems. The aircraft was piloted by Wg Cdr Pratyush Awasti.

This upgraded aircraft is equipped with indigenous Mission Computer in dual redundant configuration, Embedded Virtual Training System (EVTS), Softnet Radio and Cockpit Human Machine Interface (HMI).

HAL Bags IAI Orders for Supply of Boeing Main Deck Cargo Door

Bengaluru:  HAL has been selected by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for further supply of Boeing 737 Main Deck Cargo Door and a contract to this effect was signed at Aero India 2017 yesterday. “This reflects the confidence reposed by our valued customer”, says T. Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL.

HAL has already manufactured and supplied more than 30 of 737 Main Deck Cargo Doors to IAI. Appreciating the timely delivery and quality, IAI has placed further orders.

HAL Signs MoU with CPWD for Greenfield Helicopter Factory Infrastructure Development at Tumakuru

Bengaluru: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for execution of infrastructure development works at HAL’s new Greenfield helicopter facility at Tumakuru. The MoU was signed at a programme held as part of Aero India 2017 here today.

“The project spread over 615 acres of land allotted by the Government of Karnataka will house infrastructure for production and testing facilities, self-sufficient manufacturing capabilities of a wide range of helicopters of 3-ton to 12-ton class”, says. Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL.

Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for HAL’s new helicopter manufacturing facility at Biderehalla Kaval, Gubbi Taluk, Tumakuru last year on January 3, 2016.

Under this collaboration, HAL and CPWD are set to execute stage 1 construction. Mr T Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL, Mr Narendra Kumar, Additional Director General, CPWD, Mr V Natarajan, General Manager, Helicopter Division, HAL and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
