Brahmos Successfully launched by INS Ranvijay

Series of Brahmos Tests in one week

New Delhi:
Indian Navy today on the 1st of Dec 2020 in their official release confirmed” BrahMos Anti-Ship missile was successfully launched by INS Ranvijay striking the target ship at maximum range with pinpoint accuracy in the Bay of Bengal” A naval version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired from INS Ranvijay, a SNF class destroyer of Indian Navy in the Bay of Bangal on Monday, the 1st December, 2020 at 0900 hrs.

The Missile hit the target, a de-commissioned ship, with pin-point accuracy after performing "extremely complex" manoeuvres. BRAHMOS as 'prime strike weapon' will ensure the warship's invincibility by engaging naval surface targets at long ranges, thus re-affirming the destroyer as one of the several lethal platform of Indian Navy fitted with BRAHMOS system.

Secretary DRDO congratulated the Indian Navy, DRDO & BrahMos Scientists on the successful mission. Dr Sudhir Kumar Mishra DG DRDO & CEO & MD BrahMos Aerospace congratulated IndianNavy, DRDO & Team BrahMos and said that the Navy launch has resulted in successful BrahMos week which saw four launches by Indian Armed Forces:

Two Launches by Indian Army Land to Land on the 24th& 25th of November 2020
One Launch by Indian Airforce Land to Land on 25th of November 2020
Launch by Indian Navy Ship to Ship on 1st December 2020

All the launches have precisely hit the targets. Never in the history such feat has been accomplished by any other weapon system and we are proud that we are able to complement our armed forces with the best missile system in the world which has no competition in its class., he added.

BrahMos Aerospace, an India-Russia joint venture, produces the supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or from land platforms. The armed forces have already inducted the 290-km range land and warship-based versions of the BRAHMOS missiles, which fly almost three times the speed of sound at Mach 2.8, over the last decade. A sleeker version of air-breathing missile was also test-fired from Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jet in October this year.

Multiplatform launch capability of BRAHMOS missile can conceivably be used for pinpoint strikes on the enemy economic and strategic assets located deep inside enemy territory, or command-and-control centres and other high-value military targets like surface ships or aircraft carriers on the high seas, from long stand-off distances. Within a span of seven days, Indian Defence Forces: Army, Navy and Air Force have test fired a number of BRAHMOS missilesall with precise accuracy hitting their targets. Such a feat has demonstrated & confirmed 100% reliability and superiority of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.
