Bhubaneswar : Maoists have killed a tribal politician in a village in Odisha s Rayagada district for carrying out developmental work, police said Wednesday.
Deb Jagaranga, 40, was dragged out of his home in Hanumantapur Tuesday night by a group of men and shot dead.
His body was found Wednesday. "Although he was not affiliated to any political party, he was quite active in local politics," District Superintendent of Police Anoop Krishna told IANS.
Jagaranga s wife lakeri works as a sarpanch of Hanumantapur panchayat. With her help, Deb carried out development work including construction of a road which the rebels opposed, added Krishna.
